HCI OB SABAH 10th-18th May’08 RAFFLESIA!

Hello everyone!

I am back in Singapore yesterday at 2am!Well, it wasn’t so fun if you are holding your golf club 5hrs after you touch down. Haha, so I am still sortof tired now. OKAY, now back to Sabah, which was really a bomb and I still really miss that place. Wonderful experience.

Day 1: So we left HCI at 1230 and reached Sabah at around 10pm today, which was really nothing much.

So some photos(:well some are not taken by me and well I haven’t really got the photos from Mr Tan or my group mates so I will have to use some of greg’s photos, yep thnx greg.

We took Air Asia!

Our dorms!

Day 2: Ok, based on my memory, we played teambuilding games today?Like touch carpet and stuff, which was quite fun!We also learnt camp craft

okok after Day 2 I don’t really remember much anymore so i shall just take the whole chuck of things from nic tan’s blog and also if you wanna c the photos it will be at my facebook.

“Sabah from nic tan’s blog:

Back from OB Sabah, it was great! Tiring, but very very fun. My group was (Raffles)ia, so it was kind of amusing using raffles’ cheers for our group.

Well, for OB Sabah, the main activity was the land expedition in Crocker Range, a 4 day 3 nights trek through Crocker Range, covering a total distance of over 40 km , walking over difficult terrain. We once climbed 3000 feet up 65 degree slopes, which was really scary. On the first day of the expedition we also had to climb at the side of cliffs with the paths sloping at 45 degrees and only shoulder width apart, and at the side of it there would be a 70 degree drop down 20 meters to either the river or flat ground, which would mean certain death or paralysis. It was really scary but i sure am glad we made it through stronger as a team!

The rest of OB Sabah was like teambuilding games, we were supposed to have a sea expedition but it was cancelled due to warnings of a strong storm. Instead, we had kayaking, rock climbing, some high elements and rafting, which was fun as well.

All in all, OB Sabah has been the best camp which i have gone to for my whole life, especially since i had extremely good instructors, Johnny and Rechel, who really took care of us throughout the whole experience and guided us along throughout all our activities.

To end off, i’ll put up a song which Rafflesia composed during the Crocker Range track.

Sabah Forest (to the tune of Singapore Town)
You could take a little trip around Sabah Forest,
In your Hi-Tec trekking boots,
To see Nothing else, but trees and trees,
Trees and trees, nad trees and trees.

Because in Sabah, Sabah,
You’ll find fatty leeches everywhere,
Because in Sabah, Sabah,
You’ll find happiness, for every leech.

Let’s go down to the riverside,
to fill our water bottles,
purify it with aquatab,
after 30 minutes we can drink.

Because in Sabah, Sabah,
you’ll find dirty water everywhere,
Because in Sabah, Sabah,
you’ll find aquatabs, for everyone.

The mountains are climbing,
all the way to the sky,
and there’s only 40 other people who are trying
to get out of crocker range alive.

Because in Sabah, Sabah,
you’ll find high mountains everywhere,
Because in Sabah, Sabah,
you’ll try to stay alive, throughout the camp.

We’ve survived this tiring camp,
and proved ourselves as real men
Now all the girls will like us,
cause we are real men like Johnny.

Because in Sabah, Sabah,
you’ll find real men everywhere,
Because in Sabah, Sabah,
you’ll all turn in, to real men.

Now we are going home,
and leaving OB Sabah,
But we will always remember,
the fun we had in OBS.

Because in OBS, OBS
you’ll take back precious memories,
Because in OBS, OBS,
you’ll find happiness, for everyone.

Lastly, we want to,
thank our great instructors,
with Rechel so caring,
and Johnny being so funny,

Because in OBS, OBS
you’ll find great instructors everywhere,
Because in OBS, OBS
we’re sure you will, have fun.

well yup that’s the song we created.

Well that sums up my 8 days OB Sabah experience. It was really great.

Rafflesia May’08 OBSabah: Binglin Yiteng Kaiyuan Nicholas Eugene Boqing Mingyang Chongwe Longpeng Zicong Liejun Johnny Rechel. THANKS SO MUCH!”

yep he was right!sabah was totally ownage and well I must thank Jing Dong or else i would have died in the 3rd night in the forest and he was the one who chopped the firewood and made the fire(:

and i really think that Rafflesia was a ownage group and we really worked hard and played hard and had lots of fun in the dormitory.

johnny and rechel were the best instructors ever!I won’t forget all the guidance and care both of you gave and how I should value myself and face future challenges. Thank you everyone who made this wonderful camp possible(:
